2018 In A Glimpse

2018 was one year to remember. From record breaking hit songs, to blockbuster movies, here are what the students at NPHS enjoyed the most from 2018.


Music

1. “Sicko Mode,” written by Travis Scott has surpassed 150 million views as of December 2018.

2. “Mo Bamba,” has taken the number two spot. This hip-hop/rap song was sung by Sheck Wes and has over 145 million views on YouTube.

3. “High Hopes,” Panic! at the Disco released this chart topping song on May 23, 2018, it has quickly passed 130 million views

4. “Thank You, Next,” by Ariana Grande had every person anticipating the release song. When she dropped the song on November 3, 2018, everyone instantly fell in love causing the song to exceed over 46 million views.


TV Shows

1. Riverdale-Ever since the release of season three on October 10, the whole world fell in love with this tv show and instantly waiting for a season four.

2. The Good Place-With season three being released on September 27, 2018, this tv show features Kristen Bell, William Jackson Harper, and other actors.

3. Criminal Minds-This mystery/ crime show was renewed for a 14th season in October 2018, and it’s 200th episode drew in 12.8 million views.

4. The Flash-Season 5 was released in October 2018 and it’s revolved around Barry Allen’s life and how he deals with his newly profound powers.


Movies

1. Bird Box-Netflix released this blockbuster on December 13, 2018. With 45 million views in total, this movie was followed by many memes and left the world wondering what was going to happen.

2. Avengers Infinity War-Based on the comic book, Avengers Infinity War was not just one of the handful of movies to have made more than $2 billion at the box office. Will there be another one? Just wait and see.

3. Incredibles 2-Released on June 15, 2018, Incredibles 2 collected $231. 5 million, which is doubled what the first Incredibles made ($70.5 million)

4. A Star is Born-Released on October 5, 2018 this movie brought in roughly $404.3 million and featured like Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga.


Technology

1. AirPods-Ever since their release in 2018, Apple has sold over 765,000 Apple AirPods and that number continues to grow drastically.

2. iPhone XR-Available in six different colors, it offers a whole new color scale we’ve haven’t seen since the iPod.

3. Playstation 4, this gaming console was released in 2013 but with all of the updates and upgrades, the latest version dropped in 2018 and comes with multiple entertaining games.

Social media

1. Snapchat-Since 2017, the daily users of Snapchat has gone up 227 million.

2. Instagram-Reaching 1 billion monthly users in June 2018, Instagram has easily become one of the most used social networks all over the world.

3. TikTok-Topping Snapchat, YouTube, and Facebook, TikTok has over 130 million monthly users and a majority of then appear to be android users.

4. YouTube-As of September 18, 2018 the YouTube community has increased to 1.9 billion monthly users.


2018 was loaded with many chart toppers, record breaker apps, and blockbuster movies that everyone here at NPHS seemed to enjoy. It was a year to remember, but 2019 is shaping up to be way more exciting.
