The University of Notre Dame’s 90th annual Blue and Gold Spring game kicks off April 13th.

The game showcases the “new and improved” Irish and gives the fans a sneak peak of the new season. It isn’t like any ordinary game because they set their own rules and scoring is different.

In this showcase, the defense has the opportunity to score. They can score on a touchdown (six points), turnover before the 50 yard line (four points), turnover forced after the 50 yard line (two points), safety (two points) and a sack (one point).

The offense can score on a touchdown (six points), extra point (one point), 2-point conversion (two points), field goal (three points), 25 yard pass (two points) and a 20 yard run (two points).

It is played every year with a twelve minute first half and a fifteen minute second half. The offensive team wears blue and the defensive team wears white.

The game shows the future of Notre Dame. Notre Dame football loses players every year to the NFL draft and this game shows who will be replacing them and gives fans a sneak peak on what the year will look like.

After Notre Dame's College Football Playoff run that fell short to the Clemson Tigers with a score of 30-3, the fans are excited to see what the team has in store for the 2019-2020 season.
