The latest trend on the internet recently is flipping pairs of Vans shoes. No matter where or how you flip them, they should always land right-side up.
But why does this experiment work? Vans were originally made as skate shoes, even though many people who wear them have never skateboarded.
Since they are skate shoes, Vans are “designed with a particular weight imbalance between the size of the sneakers and the size of their soles..” stated Distractify Online.
The shoes are made in such a way to try to help skaters land on their feet as much as possible.
Vans aren’t the only shoes that land right-side up when you flip them, though. Twitter has recently discovered that Crocs also land like this when you flip them.
In fact, internet users have noticed that Crocs land right-side up more than Vans sometimes.
Why Vans almost always land right-side up has an obvious answer, but why Crocs land the same, is a different reason.
Highsnibiety Online suggested that Crocs could be landing right-side up every time because of the “overall EVA foam build prominent with curves” on the shoe.
Complex Online claims that Adidas Spezial shoes also land right-side up when you flip them.
Vans and these Adidas shoes are showing a trend. These shoes both have gum rubber around the edges. This could be causing these shoes to land the way they do.
Crocs on the other hand, do not have any gum rubber in them. According to Safe Baby Healthy Child Online, Crocs are made out of croslite. Croslite is not made out of rubber at all, which people usually think because of Crocs’ “rubbery” texture.
This theory is not the definite reason why these shoes land right-side up. Some people also think that these shoes land right-side up because the bottom of the shoe is heavier than the top.
This seems to be the case, but again, this is not fact. It is still unknown why Crocs and Adidas Spezial shoes also land right-side up.
