Getting Stuffed on Stuffing

Thanksgiving isn’t only a holiday to eat, but to celebrate thanks.

Thanksgiving is the annual holiday commemorating a harvest festival celebrated by the pilgrims in 1621. It is held on the fourth Thursday in November.

Approaching holiday season, we should prepare to celebrate, right? Whether it’s with family, friends, or both, let’s talk about what to do to prepare for Thanksgiving.

For many people Thanksgiving is celebrated with tons and tons of food. Typically the food turkey, ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes, pies, casseroles of any and every kind, you name it.

For me, Thanksgiving is about spending time with family and of course, eating delicious food (and maybe too much of it). We watch whatever football game is on, eat, then just spend quality time with each other. Once it’s midnight, some of us even go Black Friday shopping.

Not every family celebration is the same.

For example, senior Olivia Kelly said “Thanksgiving is all about the food and shopping,”

Black Friday shopping is a big part of Thanksgiving. Black Friday sales are always crazy and lines for stores are usually through the door. Most people will use Black Friday as the day to shop for Christmas gifts, which is what I do. Christmas shopping on Black Friday has to be the best idea, especially for myself, because I have a lot of people to buy gifts for. Before thanksgiving, ask whoever you’re buying gifts for what they want or a gift idea.

Average in-store discounts are 20% off, but the discount increases can reach up to 80% off or even higher on Black Friday. So I’d suggest getting all the shopping on this day, especially since every year the sales seem to last longer and longer. They now start sales usually mid day of Thanksgiving. So if you’re not crazy about going during the night, and don’t want the scraps the morning after, consider going mid day.

Things to do to prepare for Thanksgiving are to watch movies dedicated to it, cook and bake foods associated with the holiday, and save up the Christmas shopping money early.

Eat good and happy holidays!
