There has been a spike in drug overdoses in the past couple of years due to misuse of prescription drugs in our society. Now, families are more cautionary with their families, as the prescription drug epidemic has become a huge issue lately.

Prescription drugs should not be used except for prescription use only. People constantly use prescription drugs such as Xanax, percosets, etc. This has resulted in many overdoses. Prescription drug misuse has become a large public health problem because misuse can lead to addiction, which can also lead to disruptions in family life.

Also, prescription drug abuse is bad because it shows how careless some people are with the prescriptions they are given. Some people will just carelessly take a prescription despite some of them clearly stating when and how many. While I can understand a person thinking that the only way to deal with pain is to constantly take them, doctors can easily figure out other remedies for dealing with pain.

While teens and adults abuse their own prescription, which is a bad idea, another idea that is even worse than that is people using and abusing other people's prescriptions that weren't meant for them. For example, about two weeks ago, rapper Lil Peep died from an overdose of Xanax that a fan gave to him that was laced with fentanyl. He claimed to have ingested psilocybin mushrooms and marijuana concentrate.Taking other people's prescription drugs is a bad idea because that person’s prescription may be a completely different prescription than yours, and may contain something that your body isn't able to handle.

Prescription drug abuse is a major issue in society because of the dangers of addiction, overdose, and the risks of some prescriptions not being suitable for your body. While there is no way out of the decisions people face with prescriptions, it is up to them to decide how to use them and manage them in their own suitable manner.
