Quarantine Madness

The relief can hardly come soon enough.

The coronavirus was transmitted from a bat in Wuhan, China. The source of the coronavirus is believed to be a wet market in Wuhan which sold animals such as fish and birds to the public.

At least 180 countries in the world have a confirmed case of the coronavirus by now and scientists are still unsure how to stop it.

This new coronavirus illness 2019 (COVID-19) is related to past coronaviruses that cause SARS and MERS.

Chinese health officials have reported thousands of infections with COVID-19 in China, with the virus spreading from person-to-person in many parts of the country.

In order to prevent the disease from spreading health officials from all over the world recommend standing at least six feet apart, wash your hands with soap and water, and avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

If you come into contact with someone who is experiencing symptoms of the coronavirus such as fevers, cough, and shortness of breath, quarantine yourself for 2 weeks before visiting or coming in contact with anyone else.

With over 2.5 million confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the world it is considered a national pandemic and is highly contagious.

CDC

Three months into the outbreak there are over 170,000 deaths in the world. The United States has the most with over forty thousand deaths.

Elders are at the highest risk of exposure to the coronavirus because age weakens the immune systems and makes it difficult to fight off viruses.

The coronavirus is causing havoc in the world. Countries are going on full lockdown and North Korea is killing the host if necessary.

Families are holding each other accountable for who they come into contact with and some not letting anyone leave the house.

“My mom’s a nurse, so she has to treat patients all the time,” said sophomore Adin Newman, “she won’t even let me leave the house, I feel like I’m in prison."

Being quarantined is for the best and even though it’s taking longer than expected to find a vaccine or a cure for the virus, the CDC is still unsure of an endpoint.

“All I do is play video games, eat, and do my homework, but after a while I get tired of it and start to break down,” explained Newman.

Some experts predict we will be in a coronavirus quarantine for as long as 18 months. Scientists have begun human trials in order to find a cure, but have yet to be successful.

With schools not resuming don’t be surprised if anything reopens at all this summer, as the government is taking extreme measures to secure the safety of the United States people.
