Over these four years, New Prairie’s seniors have developed their own certain favorites. It is nice to look back at all of them as their high school career comes to an end.

One of these favorites is the popular school lunch. From a survey, two seniors said their favorite was pizza. Two other students said the salad bar. Some unique favorite lunches were chicken sandwiches, the Cougar Bowl, the ravioli and cheese cup, the pulled pork and Mac and cheese, the walking taco in the Doritos bags, Subway, the turkey and avocado sub, calzones, and the potato bar.

Another favorite was the senior’s favorite class. Two repeated favorites were Lifeline and Biomed. Some other favorites were Yearbook, Band class, Agriculture, Sing Sensation, World History, Drawing II, Choir, Weights and Automotive.

A special favorite for any student is their favorite teacher. Three different seniors said Mr. Suttor was their favorite. Two students said Mrs. Aerts. Another two said Mr. Forrester, Mr. Teykl and Mr. Sorg. Mrs. Barden, Mr. Jones, Mrs. Menke, Mrs. Brennan, Mr. Ashton, Mrs. Buss, Mr. Lenig, and Mr. Schwingendorf are also some of the seniors favorite teachers.

Something all seniors have to do is read books in English class. Some seniors favorite English class books were Beloved by Toni Morrison, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, The Genius In All Of Us by David Shenk, A Separate Peace by John Knowles, A Midsummer's Night Dream by William Shakespeare, Lord Of The Flies by William Golding, Macbeth by William

Shakespeare, Anthem by Ayn Rand, and Tuesday’s With Morrie by Mitch Albom.

One of the most fun times in High School is related to extracurricular activities. The most popular favorite extracurricular was running Track and Field, with four p

eople choosing it. Two separate students said Cross Country, Cheerleading, Band, and Show Choir. Some other favorites were Spirit Club, Yearbook, Running XC, Mythology, Lifeline, Art Club, Swimming, Photography, Weights, and National Honors Society.

When asked what the senior’s favorite year of high school was, the most popular chosen was senior year. The second favorite was junior year. One person said their favorite was freshman year.

Some seniors have unique favorites aside from the ones on the survey they would like to share.

Sydney Rieck said one of her favorite things about high school was “being at school with [her] friends.”

Tristin Vanslager said he favored “Friday Night Lights.”

Juliana Kroll said she liked “all of the amazing coaches, NPHS teachers, and staff that have made getting through high school easy and getting ready for [her] future in college.”

Leann Bailey said another favorite of hers was “just being with friends everyday and that’s now gone due to COVID-19.”

Miranda Gnott said she also favored “football games, pep rallies, and track meets.”

Gloria Carmel gave a different approach and gave some of her least favorites: “pizza line and sandwich line.”

Seniors are moving on from their high school favorites and are going on to make new favorites in their future plans.
