Senior Throwbacks

Through their years of high school, New Prairie seniors have gathered many memories. From 2016 to 2020, the Class of 2020 is sure to remember these memories from their high school years.


In 2016, there was some memorable music. According to the Billboard Year-End Hot 100 chart, the top ten songs were-
  1. “Love Yourself” by Justin Bieber

  2. “Sorry” by Justin Bieber

  3. “One Dance” (featuring Wizkid and Kyla) by Drake

  4. “Work” (featuring Drake) by Rihanna

  5. “Stressed Out” by twenty one pilots

  6. “Panda” by Desiigner

  7. “Hello” by Adele

  8. “Don’t Let Me Down”(Featuring Daya) by The Chainsmokers

  9. “Can’t Stop The Feeling” by Justin Timberlake

  10. “Closer” (Featuring Halsey) by The Chainsmokers

The Presidential elections also took place in 2016. Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by 2.1%. However, Republican candidate Donald Trump received 304 of the electoral votes, claiming the title of President of the United States.

In 2017, football was a big part of the year. All of the most-watched television broadcasts were football games.
  1. Super Bowl LI (FOX) - 112 million viewers

  2. NFC Playoff-Sun (FOX) - 48.5 million viewers

  3. AFC Championship (CBS) - 48.1 million viewers

  4. NFC Championship (FOX) - 46.3 million viewers

  5. NFC Wildcard Game (FOX) - 39.5 million viewers

2017 was also a popular year for bookworms. Most of these books have been adapted into either movies or television shows.

  2. Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur

  3. Origin by Dan Brown

  4. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Getaway by Jeff Kinney

  5. The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood

  7. Hillbilly Elegy by J.D. Vance

  8. The Rooster Bar by John Grisham

  9. The Shack by William P. Young

  10. A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman

The Class of 2020 may also remember 2018 as a year full of great movies. From a mix of animation, action, and romance, anyone was sure to find a movie they loved.

  3. “Incredibles 2“ ($608,581,744 gross)

  4. “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” ($417,719,760 gross)

2019 was the Class of 2020’s senior year. Many television shows were very popular this year. These include:

  2. “Undone”: season 1

  3. “Barry”: season 2

  4. “Better Things”: season 3

  5. “One Day at a Time”: season 3

  6. “Rick and Morty”: season 4

  7. “Dark”: season 2

  8. “Broad City”: season 5

  9. “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”: season 6

2019 was also a year of unique baby names. Some of the names were even related to pop culture.

This year’s seniors are sure to remember the memorable moments from their high school careers. They will remember their homecomings, proms, football games, pep rallies, and more. Even though their senior year got cut short, it was for sure one to remember.
