Seniors reveal college plans

With the school year coming to an end, the class of 2020 will have to determine the next phase of their life.

Whether they will be going to college or going into the workforce right away, they will have to make a quick decision.

Senior David Swanson is ranked eighth in his class. Swanson has a 4.3 grade point average and is planning to study business management while attending either Indiana University or Vanderbilt University.

Swanson is enrolled in many extracurricular activities such as playing for the basketball team, being apart of HOSA, Key Club, NHS, and the Academic Super Bowl.

“I just wanted to make my high school career as memorable as I could,” Swanson said, “I only get to do it once, so why not do everything.”

Senior Chase Ketterer, much like Swanson, plans on going to college.

Ketterer plans on going to college to study business as well. Ketterer is a multi sport athlete who dominates on the court and on the football field.Chase has multiple schools looking at him for football, but he hasn’t yet committed to any school.

“I’m thinking really hard about where I want to go, I don’t want to commit to the wrong college,” Ketterer said.

Ketterer is involved in after school activities such as HOSA. When he’s not there, people would likely see him in a gym or with a football working on his game.

With a 3.94 grade point average Ketterer is at the top of his class as well.

Jackson White, on the other hand, is committed. With a 2.7 grade point average, White is committed to Oakland City to play baseball.

White will attend Oakland City, a Division 2 school located in Southern Indiana. He will be studying to get an elementary education and a special education degree.

White is a part of multiple extracurricular activities such as baseball and being a part of the basketball team.

Sydney Meyers is among the top of the class along with Swanson. Meyers is second in her class with a 4.5 GPA.

Meyers is the captain of the robotics team, and is, among others, in the (National Honor Society) NHS. She played basketball for three years and is a part of the soccer club.

Meyers committed to the University of Wisconsin Madison and plans to study speech pathology.

Speech Pathology is communicating and understanding a patient in order to determine the right course of treatment. These are also called speech therapists, who treat and prevent communication and swallowing disorders in children and adults.

“After visiting a lot of colleges over the years, I think that Wisconsin is the college that I’ll fit in the most,'' Meyers stated.

With the snow starting to melt and school coming to an end other seniors will have to make the same kind of decisions as these individuals.
