As the school year comes to an end, the 2018-19 yearbook staff is making their final touches to the layout this year.

Some students look forward to receiving their yearbook each year. Remember to think of the staff who took the time to create and publish it. Kristen Barden, yearbook adviser, said it’s been her first year being the adviser of the class.

“I’ve known a lot of the students from previous classes, we have a great staff this year that worked well together,” said Barden.

Although the end product always turns out well, There are many difficulties throughout the year.

“I guess what’s been most difficult is not instantly knowing the answer to questions students ask. There are lots of details you don’t realize go into the yearbook, using the computer program, and dealing with the publishing company,” said Barden. “The yearbook takes a lot of time and effort, and people often don’t appreciate that effort the staff put into it.” Said Maggie Troy.

“One challenge the yearbook has every year is the challenging nature of clubs and activities at the school. Our “Hidden Gems” spread that we added last year is kind of a catch-all for little clubs and people we miss on the main spreads. There’s always something that doesn’t get covered,” Barden said. Making a spread for everything can be quite tricky.

People may say, what should we expect this year? According to Barden, there’s going to be more coverage and higher quality stories this year. She really pushed her students for success and to get quality interviews with people they were assigned to. She encourages them to really learn about the person or group.

The staff worked very hard to include a lot of nice features and details in the yearbook.
