“You” season two makes Netflix debut

The second season of “You” made its Netflix debut on December 26, 2019. The TV show, which is especially popular among teens, was watched by forty million people once it hit Netflix according to hollywoodreporter.com.

“You” follows the story of Joe Goldberg played by Penn Badgley. Joe lives and works in New York City and that’s where the first season takes place. Joe finds a girl and becomes obsessed with her. The two eventually cross paths and begin to date, which only makes Joe more obsessed. His obsession grows into something more than that and things start to take a turn for the worse.

In the second season of the show, Joe moves to Los Angeles, California. When he reaches Los Angeles he changes his name to Will Bettelheim to cover up things that happened in his past. He tries to live a normal life after the events that take place in New York. That plan doesn’t last long once he meets Love Quinn and begins to fall back into his old habits of obsession.

Joe realizes that Love has secrets and a dark past of her own as well. Joe does everything he can and risks everything he has to make his new relationship work out, unlike the last one.

The first season of the show was rated a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. The second season of the show received a 92% rating. The second season was also rated a 7.8/10 on IMDb.

Despite the shows popularity, only 16 New Prairie students responded, 56.3% said that they watched the popular show. The people that didn’t watch the show said the show seemed too inappropriate or that it seemed to be too serious. Other reasons people didn’t watch the show was because they believed the stalker storyline would make them feel uncomfortable, or that they simply never cared to watch the show.

Luke Ackerson, a senior, said, “I like how the show keeps you on edge after the first season. You may think the second season would be predictable, but it throws a curveball”.

Other people like Abby Rowe, who is also a senior said, “ I binge watched season 1 when it came out, and when they came out with season 2, I watched it all in one day. It’s just very capturing. You can’t stop watching because you always want to know what’s coming next. Plus I got a little emotionally attached to the characters.”
